Team-member First

At Damon's Grill we realize our people are our greatest asset. The Damon's Grill motto is Guest First but to truly be Guest First we realize we must be "Team Member First." For the Damon's Grill manager, that means a 9-week comprehensive training program as well as ongoing training throughout your career.

Manager-in-Training (MIT) Program

As a Manager-in-Training, you will complete a 9-week training program culminating in a 6-day Management Seminar at the $1.2 million, 7,200 square foot Damon's Grill Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio. During your training, you will be introduced to the myriad of ways that Damon's tries to reach its employees. You will be shown videos, visual aides, workbooks and E-Learning courses.

After completing your first eight weeks of training in a Certified Training Restaurant (CTR), you will come to Columbus for our Management Seminar (MS). At the MS, you will get an introduction to Human Resources, Situational Leadership, Damon's Grill Operational Systems and complete a 16-hour ServSafe seminar. In addition, all MIT candidates must pass the National Restaurant Association ServSafe exam. You will also learn about the STAR (Superior Training Achieves Results) Training program, Staffing, Financial Training and ServSafe Alcohol. In addition, all candidates will review Damon's signature food items in the test kitchen and must complete the NRA ServSafe Alcohol exam.

In week 10 of training, you will return to Columbus for the Management Seminar (MS). At the MS, you will revisit Situational Leadership as well as review Leadership and Communication, the STAR (Superior Training Achieves Results) Training program, Staffing, Financial Training and Responsible Alcohol Service. In addition, all candidates will review Damon's signature food items in the test kitchen and must complete the NRA BarCode exam.

The Home Office team at Damon's Grill teaches all of these courses. You will also meet many of the people who will assist you in the daily operations of your restaurant. .

Ongoing Training

As you continue with Damon's Grill, you will be offered many ways to further your career. Damon's Grill offers a Certified Kitchen Manager Seminar for managers interested in becoming a Kitchen Manager and a Leadership Seminar for potential General Managers and Assistant GMs. Damon's Grill features online courses from the Harvard Business School and offers its General Managers and upper management team the opportunity to complete the Foodservice Management Professional program sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation -- the highest accreditation in the foodservice field. Damon's Grill cares about its people and constantly strives to put the "Team Member First."
